The feet is the Most flexible structure in a Human body. Foot Consists of bones, joints, muscles, and soft tissues that lets us stand upright and perform activities like Walking, Running, Jumping etc. The feet Is divided Mainly into three sections:
- forefoot : The Forefoot contains the five toes (phalanges) and the five longer bones (metatarsals).
- Midfoot : The midfoot is a pyramid-like collection of bones that form the arches of the feet. These include the three cuneiform bones, the cuboid bone, and the navicular bone.
- Hindfoot : The hindfoot forms the heel and ankle. The talus bone supports the leg bones (tibia and fibula), forming the ankle. The calcaneus (heel bone) is the largest bone in the foot.
Muscles, tendons, and ligaments run along the surfaces of the feet, allowing the complex movements needed for motion and balance. The Achilles tendon connects the heel to the calf muscle and is essential for running, jumping, and standing on the toes.
Even though our feet may seem plain, they are actually one of the most amazing structures in our bodies. Each foot has Around 26 bones, 30 joints, and more than 100 Muscles & ligaments to keep it functioning. We Here at American Foot & Ankle Centre, can help your feet function Much Better, Stronger & Healthier.
Why Is it Important To keep Our Feet Healthy
Our feet support our weight, balance our bodies and carry an average person For more than 100,000 miles in his lifetime,While strong and flexible enough to absorb 500 pounds of impact (for example: impact caused by running) the structure of the foot is extremely delicate, which is why foot problems are so common for Humans.
